Peter recently joined us at Ashorne Hill to complete his Commis Chef level 2 Apprenticeship in partnership with Stratford upon Avon College. Peter has been able to spend quality time with our senior chefs learning new techniques, skills, and recipes. Including knife skills, safer working practices, food safety and allergy training. Peter has made a good start making breads, pastry, ice creams, sauces and preparing dishes served in our restaurant. This is what Peter had to say:

What attracted you to complete an apprenticeship?
The ability to learn within a professional environment and to gain knowledge from multiple people who have spent years within the catering industry.

Why complete the apprenticeship at Ashorne Hill?
The team at Ashorne is very knowledgeable and they are excellent teachers. Being experts in learning, the environment is naturally one that encourages development.

What benefits are you seeing from completing the qualification?
The ability to walk into any kitchen in the UK and be proficient at any task that I’m assigned.

What experience have you gained so far?
I have learned a lot of different techniques, skills, and recipes so far and feel far more confident preparing food in a professional setting.
