The Challenge


To develop talented employees into confident leaders and managers. 

Baker Hicks’s challenge was to develop a learning programme that supported employees transitioning into management positions for the first time. They wanted new leaders to focus on accelerating their business and people management skills and ensure they would be confident and successful in their appointed roles.

The Solution


Designing and delivering our New Leader Development Programme. 

Ashorne Hill designed and facilitated the New Leader Development Programme that equipped new leaders with critical skills and capabilities and helped them tackle new and unexpected challenges. Over three blended learning journeys, learners gained insightful knowledge on topics such as personal and team effectiveness, increased commerciality, and business skills to effectively transition into their leadership and managerial roles with confidence.

Digital Learning


Personalised and interactive learning.

The New Leader Development Programme included digital learning sections which helped learners continue their learning journeys at their own pace. Our digital learning platform allowed them to reflect on virtual classrooms and prepared them for upcoming face-to-face sessions. The digital aspects of the programme made it flexible and adaptable for learners which helped them feel more engaged and proactive

Face-to-Face Learning


Applying learning in a safe environment.

There were 2 days of face-to-face sessions at the end of each learning journey which were held at our premium learning facility at Ashorne Hill. These sessions enabled learners to collaborate and workshop the knowledge learnt on topics such as emotional intelligence, decision making, and assertiveness from the digital sessions into real-life scenarios. Having a section of the programme facilitated in-person provided individuals with an effective learning experience as we gave them the opportunity to practically problem-solve, network, and connect with peers.

The programme saw huge success in developing new leaders and managers for Baker Hicks. The practical, immersive and collaborative approach was designed to ensure that the learning could be taken back and applied into the workplace and specific leadership roles.
